Lindsey Tyson
DYCP Application – Work Examples
My work is rooted in an exploration of materiality – the boundaries of paint, texture, and gesture to uncover new ways of expressing movement and emotion. Through layering, abstraction, and experimentation, I seek to challenge the limitations of traditional painting, evolving a process that is both instinctive and intentional.
A key example of this approach is Wednesday, a painting that was selected for the Women in Art, Hampstead School of Art Emerging Abstract Painting Prize in 2023. This piece, along with works from my solo exhibition at Hampstead School of Art in 2024, reflects my ongoing investigation into the physicality of paint and the interplay between control and spontaneity.
This webpage brings together a selection of my recent work, offering insight into my creative journey and the directions I am exploring.
