Online Course
With Lindsey Tyson
Want to know how to print your own designs onto felt and create beautiful, sophisticated, printed felt products?
Course still available
Learn how to print felt and textiles with clear, precise images with Lindsey’s online textile print course.
After a career as a professional textile designer – first in industry, and later as a feltmaker – the move into full-time fine art a few years ago was a momentous shift.
Over many years, my printed felt pieces were stocked by galleries and collected by individuals around the world, and a distinctive transfer-printing technique was developed and honed through practice.
If there had been £1 for every time the question came up – “How do you do it?” – well… say no more! 🙂
Now feels like the right time to share the process.
This online course teaches you my particular method of printing onto felt and other fabrics, with a thorough, step-by-step breakdown of the process. It covers everything you need to create and print your own original designs – and more. You’ll have lifetime access, so you can take it at your own pace, with full support from me throughout.
What Helen says about the course….
“Lindsey’s course delivers clear and comprehensive guidance in mastering not only the heat transfer process but also the preparative techniques required to design and manipulate images in Photoshop. Lindsey’s video tutorials provide hours of demonstration, and this is backed up by documentation which I found really useful to have on hand next to the computer or the heat press.
Lindsey’s friendly online support via email and the Facebook group sessions has been amazing. The work I have produced as a result of her course has been very popular with customers and I am delighted to find a way of combining my line drawings with my feltmaking in a way which is both satisfying, flexible and commercially viable. A great experience and a worthwhile investment.”
Helen Riddle, UK
(Note: at the time Helen took the course, the Facebook group was active. Support is now provided directly via email.)

This is a self-paced online course with lifetime access.

It might not be the best fit if…

Is the course still supported?
Yes – the Facebook group and monthly calls have ended, but you can still contact me directly for help as you work through the course.
Why is it not advertised any more?
I now paint full-time, so I’m no longer actively promoting the course, but I’m happy to keep it available for people who genuinely want to learn the process.
Who is it aimed at?
The course holds a lot of information.
This particular method of printing can involve a certain amount of equipment and outlay, however, there are ways around most things, but it is an investment in time, money and you!
If you want to print images onto felt, and other fabrics, and, learn to design your own imagery and patterns so you can create your own unique feltwork and fabrics, then there is no other course like this out there.
Please note that this is not a felt-making course. It is purely concerned with how to print onto existing felt items (and other fabrics). It is NOT suitable for needle felting.
This course is for you if:
You – if you can already make felt to a reasonable standard.
You – if you want to learn how to print onto felt (and other fabrics).
You – if you are prepared to invest time and money in learning a new skill.
You – if you want to create your very own unique, individual designs, patterns and motifs.
You – if you need help with your design skills.
You – if you are willing to practice, and keep going if and when things don’t work as expected.
I want you to leave this course feeling confident in the knowledge that you know this print process inside out, with all it entails. I want you to move forward being able to create your own unique designs and printed felt (or other) products – and I will be there to support you throughout.
How it Works

What Beth says about the course
“I just want to let you know how much I am enjoying the workshop and how excited I am about learning from you. I have already watched almost all of your videos and I have to say this is about the best on-line workshop, if not THE BEST, that I have ever taken and believe me I am a life long leaner”.

What Lindsay W. says about the course
I’ve enjoyed all the course content very much - especially the fabric design elements which I will probably never use myself but was really interesting.
I hummed and hawed for some time before signing up as it involves quite a big investment – not only in the course itself but also in equipment, software, space (for the equipment) and time.
The course covers, in a lot of detail, how to design and manipulate images. It includes tutorials on using free software as well as paid-for software like Photoshop.
I will definitely keep working through Lindsey’s excellent course and drawing on her extensive and generous one-to-one and group support to help me on my way.

What Sandra says about the course
“I highly recommend Lindsey Tyson’s printing onto felt course if you are prepared to invest time and money in yourself and new equipment, as well as the tuition fee. It has given me a fresh new direction and creative ideas to explore further in my own style of felt making.
The concept is simple but not easy. The personal learning involvement continues after the course itself has finished and it’s reassuring to know that Lindsey is there to hold my virtual hand after enrolling.”
